SOFT STONE SCULPTURE WORKSHOP Tutor: Gillian Elmslie

The Soft Stone method is easy to learn. Complete a sculpture in one rewarding day, working as the block hardens. Both first time students and experienced artists find this material very liberating as ideas can be quickly realised Materials are included.

GLASS BEADING Tutor: Carol Croucher

Learn how to make your own glass beads using a hot glass process, very addictive! The class is limited to six students. All materials are included.

BOOK MAKING - THREE BOOKS

Tutor: Elizabeth Serjeant

This workshop is for people who love books and for all people who travel. Using quality materials, including leather, wood and handmade paper, students will create a set of three diary sized, handmade books. You will learn traditional binding techniques including coptic, long stitch and buck-naked binding. There will be a pre-cut pack of quality materials to purchase at the first session for $50. Other optional paper will be available for purchase from the tutor. Maximum enrolment is 8.

HOWICK BEACHES - DAY SHOOT

Tutor: Neill Castles

Something local with this day shoot around the landmarks and beaches of Howick, use this time with a professional to help frame that perfect picture that reflects this beautiful area. Requirements: Digital Camera (Compact or SLR), tripod and some lunch and refreshments.

ARTCLAY SILVER (Jewellery) Tutor: Simon Misdale

Artclay Silver is silver nitrate taken out of the photographic industry, recycled with binders to form  a clay- like substance. Once formed, dried and fired it turns into your silver. It is non-toxic and very user friendly. In this class you will make a ring using the paste. The material pack is included in the price of the class to a cost of $70.00

GLASS FUSING - INTRODUCTORY

Tutor: Neil Craik

This will involve an introduction to glass fusing and slumping. Learn to cut glass initially and then make jewellery of your own design using hot glass and dichroic glass. Students will then learn to do slumping after fusing a larger piece of work of their own design. You will also learn how to semi fuse or tack fuse using frits, powder and paint. This will be held over 2 Classes as pieces that are to be slumped need to be fully fused first.

WATERCOLOUR WITH LIFE

Discover how to add 'life and energy into your watercolour paintings. Suitable for beginners through to advanced watercolourists, this workshop starts will show you how to use whites and washes as foundation abstract backgrounds to create a stunning piece of art. We’ll cover design elements with particular attention to tonal values, dominance, unity and traditional watercolour techniques. You’ll also learn quick drawing tmethods that will get you painting now!!
